I am thrilled to announce that The Long Island Woman Suffrage Association, Inc. has just recently received 501(c)3 tax exempt status. This means we can accept donations and apply for grants.<\/p>\n
Next year’s centennial is a very important one to the residents\u00a0of New York, that of New York women finally winning the right to vote,\u00a0a battle that took almost 70 years. We are in the planning stages for an Island-wide conference to be held in late October or early November\u00a0of 2016 to discuss plans for next year’s centennial celebrations. I will also be looking into grant opportunities to help with the conference costs.\u00a0We welcome suggestions on possible venue, programs, and participants.<\/p>\n
