The Long Island Woman Suffrage Association, Inc. was honored to sponsor two awards at the Long Island History Day competition, held this year on March 18 at Hofstra University. The theme of this year’s competition was “Conflict and Compromise in History.”

The first award went to Jessica Loo and Prisha Arora from HB Thompson Middle School in Sosset, NY, Junior Group Exhibit, “Women in the Workplace during WWII.”(See photo, above)

The second award was for Senior Group Performance: “Life Behind the Quill,” and was won by Peter Prosaic and Rose Recce from Hauppague High School, Hauppague, NY.

We congratulate these young scholars, and are thrilled and proud that they chose to spotlight women’s issues in the competition.
