Ronkonkoma Rally a Huge Success!

Hundreds turned out yesterday on a beautiful late summer Sunday to celebrate the New York State suffrage centennial. Celebrants came from all over the Island, including our own Long Island Woman Suffrage Association from the Glen Cove area. After a parade of floats and banners, the group gathered at the American Legion Hall 155 to hear speakers recreate the passion of original suffrage leaders, such as Susan B. Anthony and Harriot Stanton Blatch.

Thanks to Ellyn Okvist of the Lake Ronkonkoma Heritage Association, and to the Brookhaven Town, especially Donna Lent, Humanities New York, and the AAUW for funding, and all those who supported and celebrated with us.

Thanks for generous coverage on Verizon 1tv:
